Parent Volunteer / Chaperone

Dear Parents,

• 
  Any class parent (s) wishing to volunteer, help in classrooms, be a class parent or chaperone class trips must take the Protecting God’s Children session, mandated by the Archdiocese of Newark.  

• 
  

• The following requirements must be met:

  • A completed Protecting God’s Children session with proof of a certificate (given upon completion)

  • A completed Volunteer Application 

  • A signed Code of Conduct form (on VIRTUS website)

  • A Background Check (Link is provided on VIRTUS website) 

• 
  

• In order to avoid disappointment, these requirements must be met before any parental involvement.  These include: class parents, trips, rehearsals, PSA activities that require you to work with children other than your own, holiday crafts, and visits in the classroom.

• 
  To register for the Protecting God’s Children session, go to the VIRTUS website at http://www.virtusonline.org. You may choose a session once you have created your VIRTUS ID and Password.  Don’t forget that after taking an outside class be sure you send me your volunteer application and signed certificate for our records.

• To register for a session and create your VIRTUS User ID and Password.  We are the Newark, NJ Archdiocese.  Your primary location is Jersey City/Our Lady of Czestochowa School  Please choose your primary location as Our Lady of Czestochowa School (Jersey City). Then check volunteer as the role you play within your diocese.  You will then be asked to select a session you wish to attend.

  You will be asked to read and confirm that you will abide by all of the Polices, including the Archdiocesan Code of Ethics. Then, you will be prompted to begin your Sterling Volunteers Background Check. Once you are registered, a message will appear confirming that you have completed the registration process.  You do not need to bring anything with you on the day of your session.

• OLC School will provide dates throughout the year, however, you can choose a location and date that is convenient for your schedule from the above mentioned website.  Below are some dates I am hosting.
