The basketball team will begin practicing on November 21st. Thursdays and Fridays will be the designated days of the week for practice. Basketball practice will run from 3:00-3:50 PM in the Upper School gym. Students attending aftercare will be escorted to the Lower School after practice.
Our student/athletes should be in appropriate basketball attire for practices which is a t-shirt, shorts, and sneakers.
Gamedays, our student/athletes will be given a jersey-t shirt with our school name on the front and a player number on the back of each individual jersey-t shirt. The jersey t-shirts will run in all different sizes from Small to Large. OLC asks you always wear your jersey t shirt for all games and you wear your gym OLC shorts for all games as well. This will be basketball uniform for this year. OLC basketball games will most likely all be played on the road, which means OLC will travel to other local schools to play in the opposing teams gymnasium.
The CYO League is still working on gaining interest from more schools to join their league. The tentative date to start games is the first week of December. Once the CYO has released a master schedule for basketball, OLC will inform players, and parents as soon as possible. OLC will post the master schedule on the school website under athletics, and the coaches will inform any parents, and students as soon as possible with this information. There will be a small fee for playing basketball and once we have come up with that fee OLC will let you know as soon as possible through our school website, or our school newsletter. The fee cover the cost of jersey t-shirts, and referee’s for each game.
If your son is in 5th-8th grade and is interested in our basketball program please fill out all PDF forms on our schools website under athletics and complete each form and return them in as soon as possible. No student/athlete will be able to participate until their form is completed and returned in. Thank you for your time and patience. We are looking forward to a successful basketball season. If you have any questions please e-mail your head coach for that sport at their school e-mail or contact Thomas Petrillo through his school e-mail
