School Closed 3/13-3/20

After carefully considering the current situation with the Coronavirus-COVID 19 and listening to growing concerns within our school community, the decision has been made to temporarily close The OLC School, effective Friday, March 13 through Friday, March 20.

The situation will be reassessed next week to determine if this closure should be extended. This decision was made out of an abundance of caution, with the health and safety of our students, staff and families being at the center of our decision-making. We know that taking this action will cause some disruption for families, but believe that it decreases the risk to the whole community.
The teachers will come in to work for a half-day tomorrow (Friday) to finalize their Home Instruction Plan and to gather all of their resources and teaching materials. The school will be closed to students and parents. As I mentioned to you in previous emails, our teachers have been working on this plan for several weeks and will be providing our students with a continuation of instruction, in accordance with our curriculum.
Beginning on Monday, March 16, you should go to The OLC School website, and find the Teacher Web Page of your child's teacher(s). Click on the "Homework Tab," and there you will find detailed instructions regarding the lessons that your child's teacher(s) has prepared for him/her. Please remember to check the Homework Tabs of all of your child's teachers including their specialists: Mr. Ahumada (music), Mr. Nicolato (art), Mr. Mason (computers), Mr. Petrillo (physical education), Ms. Flores (world language), and Ms. Ryan (library).
Each day your child's teachers will have "virtual office hours" from 9-10:30 AM and from 1:30-3:00 PM. This will be a time when teachers will be available via email to answer any questions or concerns that you or your child may have.
As your child works at home, please make sure to create a safe and supportive learning environment for him/her. We do not want this situation to cause any undue stress on our students or on you. Many of the activities are interactive, so relax and have fun with it!
Thank you for your continued support and understanding as we work together through this challenging situation guided by His Love and the strength of our OLC School Family,
