November letter

 Dear Parents/Guardians,

I cannot believe the first three months of school have flown by so quickly.  I guess the old adage is true, “Time passes quickly when you are having fun.” And fun, we are having at The OLC School and Little Harbor Academy.  From the very start of the school year, the fun and learning, too, began.

In addition, I can say that the students of OLC and LHA know that serving others is part of our identity.  They have been very busy serving their community as well as the world.  From the Thanksgiving drives for a soup kitchen in Jersey City to the collection for the victims of the tsunami in Samoa, the students generously gave to make the lives of others better.  For this, I am so proud.

There is no better time than the Thanksgiving season for me to express my appreciation and thanks to the faculty, staff, students, and parents for the warm welcome I received from the start.  In addition, I would like to thank Father Tom for giving me the opportunity to lead these amazing schools. For all of this, I am grateful. Each day as I ascend the steps of Grove Street Path station, there is a bounce in my step and a song in my heart.  I can truly say that I love my work.

I would also like to thank you for your patience.  As you might know, our website is up and running.  Unfortunately, the old website could not be updated.  This was why it remained with information from the past.  I hope that you will find the new website more informative and interactive.  It is meant to serve our current parents and students as well as prospective ones.  I encourage you to visit The OLC website frequently because we will be working hard to bring you current events and information.  For example, plan to view the assembly we held for the Acting Ambassador of Samoa earlier this month and Thanksgiving photos.

Before I close, I want to give you a sneak preview of some of the events on the agenda for December.

·         Under the guidance of the Student Council, each class will adopt a local family for Christmas.  More details to follow from the Student Council.

·         Conferences on December 8 and 9 will be held from 12:00 to 8:00.  Students will be dismissed at 12:00 PM both days.  After care will be available.

·         Special attention will be paid to collecting money for the Missions during Advent.

·         LHA will be having a Christmas Sing-along on December 11.

·         OLC will have their annual Christmas program on December 16.

·         Attention will be given to re-establishing a home-school association.

As you can see December is shaping up to be even more exciting than September, October, and November. Please remember my door is always open.  Feel free to stop by to say hello or to ask a question or to make a suggestion.

Wishing you and yours a blessed Thanksgiving,
