Mission Statement

Our Lady of Czestochowa School (OLC), a Catholic elementary school in cooperation with parents and community,  provides a quality education on the waterfront. We endeavor to create a learning environment which invites each child to grow as a spiritual, moral, intellectual, emotional, physical and social person.

We strive to develop the fullest expression of a child's potential and giftedness, encouraging each to become a lifelong learner and to work with others to create a more just and peaceful world. Our hope is to prepare each child to meet the challenges of life and to respond to the needs of the global community.

In support of this mission, we are committed to:

• developing attitudes that will enable the child to have a deeper relationship with God, his/her fellow beings, and foster a love for things spiritual and religious. This love will be achieved by emphasizing virtues and values: honesty, integrity, tolerance, and interpersonal skills.

• providing a curriculum that gives consideration to each child's interests, potential and giftedness while making education a useful and enjoyable experience, and

• encouraging both parental and community participation in our entire educational program.

Our History
The OLC School is located in the downtown section of Jersey City, an area referred to as Paulus Hook, which is a rapidly developing area along the Hudson River Waterfront. Downtown Jersey City has become one of the main financial and business centers of the East Coast. As a result, the area is often referred to as the "Gold Coast" and as "Wall Street West" .

The school itself was built in 1929. Those who helped in the building and the establishment of the school showed their commitment toward offering a fine education for the people of Downtown Jersey City and its surrounding areas, a tradition which we are happy to continue more than 80 years after the school first opened its doors to the community.

Today, the school opens its doors to all who want a fine academic and Christian education, regardless of ethnicity or creed. Its enrollment reflects many cultures, making it a diverse community of learners.
